Ready to grow

More rangatahi need a safe place to live. We are looking to add more homes to our portfolio and want to talk with funders, lenders and government partners who share that goal.

About us

Aroha Community Housing is a Waikato-based housing organisation. We provide homes to Mana Services, a registered transitional housing provider. We focus on rangatahi aged 16–24, a group that is often left out of mainstream housing. Alongside our transitional homes, Aroha also provides residential care housing for rangatahi in state care.

We are the property side of the partnership. Aroha provides and looks after the homes, and works in partnership with Mana Services Aotearoa Charitable Trust (Mana Services). Mana Services' Whare Ahuru team supports the rangatahi who live in them, using a kaupapa Māori approach.

Our story

Aroha Community Housing was established in 2024 by Mana Services. It was set up to grow the supply of safe, stable homes for rangatahi in the Waikato, so the Whare Ahuru team can focus on what it does best: supporting young people.

Mana whenua

We acknowledge Waikato-Tainui as mana whenua of the rohe where our homes stand.

Governance & accountability

We know that funders, lenders and government partners need to trust the organisations they back. Aroha is set up to be transparent and accountable.

  • Role: Housing provider to Mana Services, a registered transitional housing provider
  • Legal entity: Aroha Community Housing Limited
  • Partnership structure: Aroha provides the homes, a mix of owned and leased. Mana Services (Whare Ahuru team) operates the service.
  • Accreditations: Our homes are operated by Mana Services, a Level 1 accredited social services provider.

Our homes & partner support

Each home gives rangatahi a safe, stable base for up to 12 months. During that time they are supported to move on to long-term community housing.

Our homes

  • 11 homes across Waikato, currently housing 27 rangatahi
  • A mix of homes we own and homes we lease
  • Studio apartments to two- and three-bedroom houses, and every bedroom has its own bathroom

Homes for transitional housing

Our homes are used by Mana Services for transitional housing. Rangatahi aged 16–24 can stay for up to 12 months while they are supported into a long-term community home.

Support from Whare Ahuru

The service is delivered by the Whare Ahuru team, part of Mana Services. Their kaupapa Māori approach puts whanaungatanga and the wellbeing of rangatahi and their whānau at the centre.

Whare Ahuru provides the full wraparound support each young person needs, from day-to-day guidance to help into study, work and long-term housing.

Our homes

Our homes are ordinary, well-kept houses in established Hamilton neighbourhoods, places where rangatahi can settle, feel safe and get ready for what comes next.
