Privacy policy
Aroha Community Housing Limited ("Aroha", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through arohahousing.co.nz, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We follow the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand).
What we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us. When you use our contact form, we collect:
- your name
- your email address
- the type of enquiry and your message
- whether you'd like to receive updates from us
We don't ask for sensitive information through this website, and we never publish details that could identify the people who live in our homes or where those homes are. Please don't include personal details about rangatahi or other people in your message.
If you're looking for a place to stay
If you use our "Need a place to stay?" form, we pass your details to the Whare Ahuru team at Mana Services so they can contact you, but only after you've ticked the box agreeing to this. We don't use these details for anything else, and we never add them to our updates list.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry
- keep a record of our conversations with partners, funders, lenders and government agencies
- send you occasional updates about our work, but only if you ticked the box to receive them
We won't sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Updates and unsubscribing
If you agreed to receive updates, every email will include an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to take you off the list at any time by emailing contactus@arohahousing.co.nz.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website and our communications:
- Netlify, which hosts the website and stores contact form submissions on servers in the United States.
- Microsoft 365, which we use for email. Contact form submissions are emailed to contactus@arohahousing.co.nz.
- Our email newsletter provider, which stores the details of people who've asked for updates.
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to New Zealand law.
If your enquiry relates to services delivered in our homes, we may pass it on to our partner Mana Services so they can respond. We'll only do this where it's needed to help you.
Cookies and analytics
This website doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to respond and keep reasonable records of our work. We keep mailing list details until you unsubscribe.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Access is limited to people who need it to do their work.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. To do this, or to ask any question about privacy, email us at contactus@arohahousing.co.nz.
